I passed my final thesis project review today! yay! happy to anounce that I can graduate!

今日のらくがき日記は、うごく玉乗り犬をです。これは、私が最近やっているカルタプロジェクトの一部です。ぐらぐらしてあぶなっかしいですね。これがどうなるかはまたご紹介したいとおもいまーす。

Today, I would like to introduce a dog with ball, which is a part of my Karuta project. The dog looks unstable but don't worry he is not gonna fall down. I will post whole flash in near future! 

A Jacket I want to have thesedays is.... long down jacket which can cover my hips, and ideally it has only one button and the shape is A-line.

I always have hard time to find right one because I am too small! 

Nyankichi-sensei : well....big size is always good, it can make you warm.

Today is thanksgiving day which is like new year in Japan. People gather and eat a lot. Some people say 'happy turkey day' instead of 'Happy Thanksgiving'. I went to my friend's house and, yes, I ate turkey!! Since I had a lot of good foods today, when I back to my house, I fed ham-kichi little bit bigger amount than usual. Happy thanks giving :)

While I was focus on my project, the downtown San Francisco has changed to Christmas. The Union Square has a big Christmas tree, and there are skating rink next to the Chirstmas tree. I want to try in near future.

I will have final thesis presentation at next week. I am a little bit nervous. 

Yuki : ....and I haven't completely finished it yet.

Nyankichi sensei : Everybody is happy about thanks giving holiday. Let's eat turkey~! 

I will keep working on my project, it's only one week left! Finger cross! 

People's behaiver varies, and it depends on what culture the person grow up with. In case of conversation, I think, people has american or europian cultural background sees other person's eyes very hard during the conversation. And Japanese people, of course including myself, nods very hard during the conversation. I just noticed that I nod too much!!!

it is prohibited to drink alcohol on the street in the U.S, so I often see people having paper bag and drinking something. Especially on the big day such as Halloween, New Year, I see many people with paper bag. It's different from Japan. You can legally drink alcohol at a park, beach almost everywhere in japan. Interesting. 

I wonder why dogs poop at the center of sidewalk. It's not only one dog, I saw several dogs do it.

San Francisco is very cold and I always want to have hot drink nowadays. 

Nyankichi : then, you will love this! (He shows MUJI's tumbler)

The Muji's tumbler will keep the drink's tempartuer, so your tea will be still hot after one hour you make.

Frog : Maybe tumbler is better than coffee cup during winter. 

I personalry like this Muji's tumbler, but other tumblers are also good for winter season!

When I ate apple, I found there were small worm in side of the apple!!!!!!

Nyankichi-sensei : You know?  The apple having worm means delicious!

Frog : are you sure? why?

Yuki : ohhhh... I am glad I didn't bite the worm....

せっかく手書きらくがき日記かいたのに、スキャナが動かせないせいで、アップできませんでした。ちっ。スキャナの上に妖怪が乗っていて、邪魔しているのでは。。。。というMac上でした落書きにて失礼します。

というわけでまた明日。

I couldn't scan a pieace of paper with my doodling diary today. I feel like there are hobgoblin on the scanner and telling me not to scan!   well....see you tomorrow!

Do you know 'daikon candy', I heard it's good for cough and sore throat. So I tried!

#1 Cut daikon about 1/2 inch size

#2 Put into jar with a lot of honey. Pour honey until all the daikon are covered.

#3 Leave it in the refrigerator about 3 hours, then you will see shrank daikons floating in the honey.

You can eat the daikon syrup as it is, or you can mix it with water, or you can eat the daikon as it is. Daikon syrup is easy, delicious and good for cold!

High fever does help to recover from a cold, I think. I had a terrible afternoon yesterday, I had chills so I wore warm clothes as much as I can. And I found out I had 101.3°F!! 

I slept with all clothes and made myself warm......Next morning, surprisingly, I recovered from the terrible cold!

Nyankichi-sensei : If you have high fever, that is because your body are fighting with cold virus so that it's better not to reduce the fever.

ohhhhh noooo I caught a cold again....

Yuki : #1 Nameko mashroom, #2 Iwanori sea weed

Nyankichi-Sensei : #1 Abura-age (deep-fried bean curd) #2 Wakame sea weed

Frog : #1 Okura #2 Gobou (burdock)

Miso soup goes well with almost all ingredients. 

ちなみに、サンフランシスコではオクラはOkuraといって売ってました。

Nyankichi Sensei : The scorched part of boiled rice, Baked potato, cream puff, green tea. 

Frog : Boiled egg, Tortilla, Cheese cake, coffee.

地震から８ヶ月たちました。

I participated Unicef's Christmas tree project for the children in the disaster area of 311. I created three Christmas tree ornaments for the project.

Unicef will collect about 2000 ornaments from volunteer designers and art students, and put them on big Christmas trees. Unicef and volunteers are hoping that they can give the children smile. The trees will be showed at Ginza & Yurakucho area and Sendai & Kesennuma area where the 311 tsunami hit. Also the tree will be at a kindergarten in the disaster area. Please check it out if you are close by! That must be beautiful and lovely!

Today, I would like to introduce an English idiom, ALL EARS. 

Frog : Today was blablablabla...

Yuki : uh..

Frog : ....... Hey, are you listening?  

Yuki : I'm all ears (become an ear) 

Nyankichi sensei : All ears means that you are listening seriously, as if all of you body become ears.

I like to feel the change of seasons, but I feel somehow sad.

(My room is too cold in the morning, I ended up to wear angry-bird hat!)

Nyankichi-sensei : You might wanna eat Oden (Japanese style pot-au-feu).

I bought a nice leather briefcase accidentally at my favorite second-hands store!! The bag's appearance is very simple, but it is very functional. It can be used as business bag and also shoulder bag. Moreover, it has 12 pockets!! Again, the bag is very functional. Surprisingly, it costs only $30.00-. It was good shopping, hehehehe! 

Summer time ended this morning. Today's 8.am become 7p.m! I was happy to wake up because I always feel so sleepy when I wake up at 7 am, but today I wasn't! And it is so amazing all of my phones and computers also fixed their time from summer time. Very smart.

Today is my friend birthday. I would like to give cheesecake and red wine to her, so I draw them. happy birthday!

San Francisco is very cold these 2 days. 

Yuki : I really want to eat hot & spicy soup like Korean one (Jjigae). 

So I went to Korean restaurant for lunch. It was really good, and it's only $10- but includes tofu soup, rice, fish, 2 kimch , 3 veggie dishes...a lot! yum yum. 

Good things about the U.S is I can have 'to go bag' if I cannot finish the dishes. So I bring about the half of my tofu soup. It became my dinner as well. hehehehe.

I'm afraid I am still talking about my cold, but I would like to introduce my favorite drink for cold, Ginger Honey drink. Ginger Honey Drink is very simple, all you need to prepare is grated ginger, honey and hot water. And mix them together. When you drink Ginger Honey, I bet you will be very happy!

Yuki : Feels good. Her temparture is getting higher.

Nyankichi-Sensei : Feels like all his pores are open.

Frog : Feels too spicy. Put too much ginger.

I reccomend you to take ginger honey drink when you catch a cold! Amasake with ginger is also awesome!

A cold pill I took yesterday was unexpectedly sweet. 

Yuki : It's kinda delicious.

Nyankichi-sensei : ....You should just take it!!

Frog : ahh, I didn't know it's delicious.

Japanese cold medicine is always very bitter taste for me. Sometimes I forget to prepare water when I take pill, in this case, I have to struggle with bitter taste. But the today's pill I took was made in USA and it was sweet, I felt somehow good.

Frog : Maybe bitter medicine is good for childern not to dring by mistake.

Finally, I bought cold medicine in San Francisco. It was my first time to buy American cold medicine. I have been in the U.S for 3 years but I never used American medicine. I always took Japanese one.

I went nearest Walsgreen and checked all the medicine related to cold....it was too much boxes and I had hard time to decide which one is best for me. In addition, I was little bit dizzy and all the English big words on the medicine box made my brain tired.

The one I bought has two boxes, one is for daytime and another is for night time. After reading all cold medicine's box, I feel I have more English vocaburally about cold!

Yuki : The direction on the box said Adults take 2 caplets….which means I should take probably 1 caplet…right?

Nyankichi-Sensei : Oh... just take it! don't think too much!

I caught a cold..I hope I didn't give my cold to anybody. Take care~.
